Fish pots and other fishing gear, anchors and diver contact can damage and kill live corals.

Divers must avoid touching corals, as this may cause injuries.
A diver stood on this brain coral (Diploria labyrinthiformis) and abraded the thin layer of tissue and underlying skeleton.
