Abisha Mapendembe

Abisha’s expertise bridges the environment and development sectors. His work for the centre focuses on exploring the linkages between renewable natural resources management and poverty alleviation /human well-being, and informing policy. He is the coordinator of the IIED and UNEP-WCMC biodiversity and poverty partnership. He has and continues to contribute to UNEP-WCMC’s work on drylands, biodiversity and ecosystem service indicators, and capacity building thereof, national reporting on biodiversity among other things. Prior to joining the Centre, Abisha worked with the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, Birdlife International, Fauna and Flora International and the Centre for International Forestry Research on sustainable development and environment policy advocacy and research. Abisha holds an MSc in International Development, as well as an MA in Environmental Policy and Planning. In his spare time Abisha enjoys following his beloved Arsenal FC.
