Summary
of the review of national implementation of the Convention on Biological
Diversity carried out by the Government of the United Kingdom Subsequently, to support
similar work in other countries, UNEP-WCMC prepared a review of the lessons
learnt in carrying out this project. Experience
gained in carrying out a review of CBD implementation in the United
Kingdom Following this review,
the UK National Focal Point is continuing consultation and follow up,

Working
in collaboration with the CBD National Focal Point, the UNEP World
Conservation Monitoring Centre developed a matrix for assessment of
national implementation of the Convention, based on the obligations
identified in the Convention Articles and the COP Decisions. This
matrix was used as a basis for review of implementation with stakeholders,
carried out in 1999.
