Claire’s work is focused on species-related projects, with an emphasis on species traded under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES). Her current work includes the economic valuation of CITES species within international trade. Claire has a BSc in Zoology and an MSc in Environmental Management (Ecology, Conservation and Wildlife Management). She spent five years working for the UK Scientific Authority (Fauna), advising UK Government on scientific aspects of CITES implementation. Having established an orang-utan research project in Borneo in 1999, Claire has a strong interest in orang-utans and their conservation, and continues to support the project’s work in her spare time.
