CENTRAL AMERICA

  • Awareness raising: promote awareness of cloud forests, particularly their social, economic and biological importance, through the publication of a popular document and management/conservation case studies.
  • Information and Networking: co-ordinate the provision of updated information to the global database; participate in forthcoming national meeting in Mexico of cloud forest conservation experts in November 1998, and present recommendations of the workshop.
  • Management: promote activities to link up remaining cloud forest fragments through restoration/protection efforts, taking into account the ongoing Mesoamerican Corridor work. Improve management of existing reserves.
  • Research: Identify national institutions to promote research on a number of topics.
