SOUTH AMERICA
  • Awareness raising: develop recognition of cloud forest issues amongst NGOs, donors and other interest groups in the region.
  • Networking: activate networking function to support dialogue between interest groups and improve access to and exchange of information.
  • Policy: Promote a policy theme on cloud forests at the forthcoming International Symposium on Sustainable Mountain Development in Quito, Ecuador (December, 1998). Organise workshops on cloud forest conservation with all stakeholders, taking into account gender-issues.
  • Capacity Building: produce a handbook for education and training uses.
  • Research: a number of priority topics and research sites were identified.
