Explanatory note for CITES species

The database contains the scientific names of all species ever listed in CITES Appendices I, II or III with the exception of Appendix-II Orchidaceae, for which the data are only partially complete. Generic names of Cactaceae and Orchidaceae hybrids are not included. English, French and Spanish common names are included where available. Some synonyms of scientific and common names are also listed but no attempt has been made to make these comprehensive.
