Congratulations were in order recently for Jerry Harrison, the Head of Development, who completed his 30th year of service with the Centre on the 1st July 2011.
At the UNEP-WCMC annual staff barbecue on the 5th September, Jerry was thanked for his significant contribution by Jon Hutton, UNEP-WCMC Director. Jerry was presented with a certificate recognising his long and meritorious service, a card from all the staff and, as Jerry has a particular passion for stage performance, theatre tokens.
During the presentation, Jon recounted Jerry’s career at the Centre and highlighted in particular the consistently reliable approach that Jerry has shown in his work.
We were entertained by Jerry’s memories of working with the Centre over the years and enjoyed hearing about the many developments he has experienced. Jerry explained that one of the most significant developments during his career has been technological, and described the challenges of obtaining data without the modern technology on which the Centre now so essentially relies.
Jerry said that he would like to thank everyone he currently works with at the Centre, previous colleagues and his many contacts in the sector. We all congratulate Jerry for this great achievement and hope that he enjoys working with UNEP-WCMC for many more years to come!
