Employment OpportunitiesThe World Conservation Monitoring Centre is the biodiversity information and policy support arm of the United Nations Environment Programme whose aim is to place authoritative biodiversity information in the hands of the world's environmental decision-makers in all sectors. Senior Development Officer UNEP-WCMC is currently seeking an experienced, qualified and dynamic individual, who will help the Centre to identify and respond to new opportunities for supporting decisionmaking processes. This enthusiastic individual will work in close collaboration with colleagues across the Centre to support them in developing new projects and programmes, and to facilitate the identification of resources necessary for their implementation. The successful applicant will have an excellent grasp of the international biodiversity conservation and sustainable use landscape, and a demonstrated ability to write clearly and succinctly on scientific issues for a lay audience. They will have worked with organizations in biodiversity, conservation and/or development sectors, and have significant experience of proposal preparation and presentation. The salary is negotiable within the Centre’s existing bands. UNEP-WCMC’s mission is to evaluate and highlight the many values of biodiversity and put authoritative biodiversity knowledge at the centre of decision-making. Since its establishment in the 1970s, it has been at the forefront of the compilation, management, analysis and dissemination of global biodiversity information, and has an outstanding record of achievement. Prospective candidates should note that this is not a UN post. The post is being offered for one year in the first instance, with a possibility of an extension.
