Lera coordinates our work in support of the UN-REDD Programme on promoting environmental benefits and reducing risks from REDD+ (reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation "plus" related activities). We work together with excellent collaborators within and outside the programme, on (i) development of the Programme’s Social & Environmental Principles and Criteria, (ii) decision-support tools and guidance on the multiple benefits of REDD+ and (iii) capacity building in these areas in REDD+ countries.
Lera joined UNEP-WCMC in 2002. She has managed upwards of 25 projects over this time, and is co-editor of the World Atlas on Great Apes and their Conservation (2005). Her PhD from University of Leeds modelled the impacts of climate change on tropical plant species in Amazonia.
