World Atlas of Coral Reefs

For over 20 years, UNEP-WCMC, in partnership
with other international organisations, has been at the fore of
global efforts to document and conserve the world's coral reefs.
The publication of the World Atlas of Coral Reefs marked an important step towards increasing knowledge and awareness of the significance of coral reefs world-wide and the threats they face. The World Atlas of Coral Reefs provides new global estimates for coral reefs world-wide and, for the first time, presents reef area estimates for individual countries supported by detailed maps and statistics for all the world’s coral reef nations. |
The World Atlas of Coral Reefs was launched on September 11th 2001.
