Slide 8 of 15
Notes:
- In 1998 UNEP-WCMC, ICLARM and the World Resources Institute combined
to produce the first detailed assessment of the threats to reefs world-wide.
- Reefs at Risk (map) found that some 58% of the world’s coral reefs
were threatened by coastal development, pollution, sedimentation and
poor fishing practices.
- Since then UNEP-WCMC has been working on a number of other stressing,
including the compilation of a major global database on the distribution
of coral diseases.
