Meet our staff
Matt Walpole
Matt joined the UNEP-World Conservation Monitoring Centre at the beginning of 2008 to lead the Ecosystem Assessment Programme, which has developed a broad range of work on biodiversity and ecosystem service indicators and assessments and linkages to human wellbeing and poverty reduction. In 2013 Matt became Head of Science, Economics, Policy and Partnerships, overseeing a group of new and existing cross-cutting programmes working to improve internal co-ordination and capacity and external impact. Matt has a PhD in ecology and has worked in both academic and NGO sectors focusing on inter-disciplinary approaches to conservation worldwide. He lives in Cambridge with his family.
