Mexico: Forest Landscape Restoration in Chiapas

The Scolel Te project, which began in 1996, was one of the first to explore how small farmers could become active members of a global carbon market. Farmers who wish to join the scheme must draw up a management plan, or Plan Vivo. Theproject, pioneered in Chiapas, is helping to restore a degraded environment and improve the quality of life of Mayan villagers.
