Monika Bertzky
Monika focuses on supporting countries in the planning for biodiversity and ecosystem service benefits from REDD+ and has been/is leading collaborations with countries in Latin America, Africa and Asia. She is also involved in the development of an online tool demonstrating the spatial relationship between carbon stocks and biodiversity at global scale, and has experience working on impacts of biofuel feedstock production on biodiversity and sustainability standards for bioenergy. Before joining UNEP-WCMC in January 2009, Monika completed a PhD in Human Geography in Germany, working for more than four years with a research group on success and failure factors of protected areas.
