Monika Bertzky
Monika focuses on supporting countries in the planning for biodiversity and ecosystem service benefits from REDD+ and has been/is leading the collaboration with countries in Latin America, Africa and Asia. She is also leading the development of an online tool demonstrating the spatial relationship between carbon stocks and biodiversity at global scale, and has experience in sustainability standards for bioenergy. Before joining UNEP-WCMC in January 2009, Monika completed a PhD in Human Geography in Germany, working for more than four years with a research group on success and failure factors of protected areas. Her initials easily get confused with 'Multiple Benefits', which sometimes does not matter much, but sometimes it does...
