Collaborate with UNEP-WCMC

Demand is growing for environmental information to be quickly and easily delivered via the Internet. UNEP-WCMC aims to improve the exchange of information on a global scale by working in partnership with other international organisations.

Current Collaborative Partnerships

The benefits of working with UNEP-WCMC are:

  • Broader awareness of and access to integrated environmental information
  • Information products, tailored to user-specific needs, to reach a growing audience of people, raising the profile and work of your organisation
  • Access to a wider profile of clients than might be possible operating alone
  • Economies of scale allow UNEP-WCMC to make available web-based and other industrial strength technologies and facilities, such as high-speed Internet connections, to deliver a high-quality and easy-to-use service.
  • Improved access to datasets using Internet-based technologies such as the Internet Map Server (IMS) allow you to obtain global and regional datasets and understand better the context of the data contributed by you and other data suppliers
  • Access to a variety of sources to maintain, add to and help validate and extend your datasets, given approval
  • Development and provision of more detailed or specialist information to enhance and extend the quality and integrity of the global and regional datasets available
  • Possibility of making information available to the developing world in support of international conventions and organisations.

UNEP-WCMC's Information Services Division employs the latest technologies to provide accurate, high-quality data and information. Data for information products comes from a range of sources: governmental, intergovernmental and NGO networks; published sources, expert advice and our own research. Our policy has been to work closely with, and to acknowledge the contributions of, data networks and suppliers in the development of new information products.
