Physical Features The park contains some of Victoria's highest country, including its highest mountain, Mount Bogong (1986m), Mount Feathertop and the Bogong High Plains. These higher features abut ruggedly dissected terrain. Other features include basalt cappings and periglacial landforms.

Vegetation Extensive areas of alpine communities including herbfields, grasslands, heathlands and sphagnum bogs; subalpine woodland dominated by Eucalyptus pauciflora, montane and foothill forests dominated variously by E. delegatensis, E. dalrympleana and E. dives. Rare Victorian species include Olearia frostii, Celmisia sericophylla, Epilobium tasmanicum, Abrotanella nivigena, Agrostis australiensis, Deyeuxia affinis, Gnaphalium nitidulum, Lycopodium scariosum, Parantennaria uniceps, Pelargonium helmsii.

Management Constraints Once-only logging of E. delegatensis stands until 1988; grazing of alpine pastures by cattle - to be phased out by 1991 in about one third of the park, elsewhere to continue; some aqueducts, roads and other works associated with hydro-electric scheme.
