CITES Reviews of Significant Trade

UNEP-WCMC produces regular outputs of trade in wild-collected fauna and flora listed on CITES Appendix II as part of the CITES Review of Significant Trade process.

For the most recent Animals and Plants Committee meetings (AC25 and PC19), UNEP-WCMC also produced Reviews of Significant Trade for the species selected for review following CoP14.

 

Reports produced for the European Commission

UNEP-WCMC prepares regular reports for the European Union to assist with the implementation of CITES in the EU. For example, in-depth trade trade analyses and reviews of the conservation status of particular taxa, amongst others.

Analysis of European Union and candidate countries' annual reports to CITES

The Analyses of the European Union and candidate countries’ annual reports to CITES provide a detailed discussion of the information submitted by the EU Member States and candidate countries describing their trade in species listed in the Annexes of the EU Wildlife Trade Regulations. The Analyses summarise noteworthy patterns of trade, highlighting species that are traded in high volumes or for which trade has increased in recent years. A noteworthy addition to the 2010 Analysis is the inclusion of a species valuation chapter, which examined the monetary value of EU imports of CITES-listed species in 2010.

The 2010 Analysis of the European Union and candidate countries’ annual reports to CITES is now, for the first time, available in an interactive online format, accessible here.

Analysis of National Reports for the Convention on Migratory Species

At least six months prior to each Conference of the Parties, CMS Parties are required to provide information about the measures that they are taking to implement the provisions of the Convention, in the form of a standardised national report.These analyses summarise data provided in key sections of the national reports.

 

Analysis of National Reports for the African-Eurasian Waterbird Agreement

This analysis summarises data in national reports submitted to the 5th Meeting of the Parties to AEWA. For the first time, reports were submitted using the Online Reporting System, developed by UNEP-WCMC in conjunction with the UNEP-AEWA Secretariat.
