The Darwin Initiative, primary funder for the project, was launched at the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio. Its main aim is to use British scientific, educational and commercial strengths in knowledge and expertise to assist countries poor in financial resources but rich in biodiversity to understand, conserve and sustain their natural habitats. This
programme offers support to conservation projects worldwide, by providing
air travel for researchers, scientists, trainers and trainees. The programme
has provided flights to enable staff from the UK and Ghana to work together
to implement the project. |
