At its ninth meeting (Darwin, Australia, June 1999), the CITES Plants Committee considered a document Contribution to an evaluation of tree species using the new CITES Listing Criteria prepared by the UNEP World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC) on behalf of the CITES Management Authority of the Netherlands.

This publication was considered to be a very useful and valuable source of information, but it was recognised that the information contained in it was not complete.

The CITES Plants Committee therefore recommended that the Management Authority of the Netherlands distribute the document to all Parties, asking them to provide additional information or corrections as appropriate. The Plants Committee also recommended that this publication be made available on the UNEP-WCMC Web site. This has been communicated to all CITES Parties through CITES notification 2000/047.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Nature Management and Fisheries of the Netherlands, in collaboration with UNEP-WCMC have subsequently made the report available here on the web, and distributed hard copies to all Parties in October 2000.
