In October 2000, UNEP convened a workshop 'Towards the harmonization of national reporting' where representatives of eight convention and agreement secretariats, eight countries and several international organizations met in Cambridge, UK to discuss options for harmonization of reporting. The workshop resulted in the establishment of UNEP-sponsored pilot projects in four countries to explore different approaches to harmonization of national reporting to biodiversity-related conventions.

Ghana - "Report on the national reporting mechanisms for the Biodiversity-related Conventions and State of the Environment"

Indonesia - "Streamlined National Reporting under Biodversity-related Conventions"

Panama - "Harmonizing Reports on International Biodiversity-related Conventions"

Seychelles - "Streamlined National Reporting under Biodversity-related Conventions -The Republic of Seychelles Pilot Case Study"

In September 2004, the second Harmonisation Workshop reviewed the results of the pilot projects and further recommendations for development were put forward in the Workshop Report.
