Salary depending on skills and experience
We are looking for a motivated and technically experienced Senior Programme Officer to work in the Business, Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services programme, who relishes the opportunity to work with the private sector and engage in the development of scientifically rigorous biodiversity management and mitigation approaches for industry.
The programme supports the evolving field of business and biodiversity and manages a unique and successful partnership with the extractives industry, providing biodiversity information, data and resources to support the recognition of, and response to, biodiversity in industry development.
This role will provide you with the chance to lead the development, resourcing and delivery of a new portfolio of projects to support the global evolution of methodologies and mitigation approaches for managing development impact on biodiversity and associated processes to promote and facilitate implementation.
We believe that this is a significant career opportunity to contribute towards an innovative and evolving global agenda, whilst demonstrating your leadership, fundraising, project management and technical expertise. You will be a pragmatic scientist and an outstanding collaborator with good experience of attracting research funding and developing biodiversity management strategies. You will build on your own expertise and strong existing network to develop a new work area for UNEP-WCMC and further the specialist knowledge base that underpins the organisation’s business engagement.
We will provide you with the chance to grow your strategic awareness, project management and technical skills within an engaging team environment, spanning the various biodiversity disciplines represented in UNEP-WCMC and linking this to the field of business and biodiversity. The Centre staff are experienced, ambitious and results-orientated, providing an excellent environment to develop and contribute your own skills. In addition to training and development opportunities, we offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including generous pension contributions.
If you are looking for a rewarding and challenging post where you can impress us with your project development, fundraising and leadership abilities, partnership management capabilities and technical expertise, we want to hear from you. Please complete a WCMC application form and submit it with a CV and a short covering letter through the link below.
Please note that this is not a UN post and we can only accept applications from those eligible to work in the UK.
