WCMC is a UK charity, based in Cambridge, which supports the United Nations Environment Programme. We work in collaboration with UNEP, under the banner of UNEP-WCMC. Our mission is to evaluate and highlight the many values of biodiversity and put authoritative biodiversity knowledge at the centre of decision-making. Since our establishment in the 1970s, the Centre has been at the forefront of the compilation, management, analysis and dissemination of global biodiversity information, and has an outstanding record of achievement.

UNEP-WCMC are looking for a designer to join our team. You'll be working on important web and mobile applications aimed at making sure people can find the easiest route to collecting, visualising and sharing environmental information. Your designs will help governments across the world unlock vast amounts of their environmental information, canoeing scientists map corals and the United Nations to keep the planet under review.
 

What are we looking for?

- We are looking for someone who will to work closely with a bunch of smart, energetic and dedicated engineers, scientists and policy people.
- We need someone with an analytical brain who can find simplicity in complex data, complex science and complex politics.
- Our designer needs to be willing to code. You don't need to be a pro but rapid prototyping with CSS and HTML will be part of your job.
- An expert in original visual design is important. We are looking for someone who is happy to start from a blank page. What we make isn't generic and can't be found in a wordpress theme.
- We do a lot of work with maps, your experience with creating beautiful maps will be well utilised.
