Bex Gottlieb

Associate Data Officer | Informatics

Bex assists with the development, improvement and dissemination of global data and information on biodiversity. She supports data innovation in a wide variety of projects and ensures best practice is used in the collection, management, and delivery of data products. Bex also supports UNEP-WCMC’s internal digital transformation, overseeing the management and usage of a new data management system for spatial and non-spatial data within the Centre.

Previous experience & expertise

Bex holds a Joint Erasmus Mundus MSc degree in Environmental Science, Policy, and Management from the University of Manchester, Central European University, and the University of the Aegean, where her thesis research focused on ecological coherence of marine protected areas in the Caribbean. She also holds a BSc degree in Environmental Science from Western Washington University. Bex’s previous work experience includes managing a wildlife conservation non-profit organization in Tanzania, managing a conservation-focused study abroad program in East Africa, and teaching environmental education.
