Caroline Sourzac-Lami

Programme Officer | Climate Change and Biodiversity

Caroline leads and contributes to various projects and activities that support decision makers at the national and global level in delivering climate change mitigation and adaptation while improving livelihoods, increasing climate resilience, and protecting or restoring forests, peatlands, mangroves and other ecosystems.

Her work provides technical expertise, capacity building, indicators, tools and guidance for stakeholders to achieve non-carbon benefits from ecosystem-based mitigation, to address environmental and social safeguards in REDD+ implementation, to direct finance towards sustainable land use and soft commodity production with positive environmental and social impacts, among other topics.

Previous experience & expertise

Caroline has experience working with both the public and private sector to develop policies that achieve positive environmental and social outcomes. She previously worked on the impacts of commodity production on tropical forests, engaged with companies in the Congo Basin region to promote best practices, supported local governments in the Alpine region to use ecosystem services and participatory planning for rivers management, conducted research on sustainable food consumption and advised the Deputy Mayor of Paris on circular economy.

She holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Policy from Sciences Po Paris School of International Affairs (PSIA), and Bachelor’s degrees in Social Sciences from Sciences Po Paris and Physics from Sorbonne Université, Paris 6.
