Our dedicated team combines scientific excellence, outstanding technical ability and a passion for nature
Daniela leads and contributes to the work of the Centre on intergovernmental processes such as the Convention on Biological Diversity and the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services. Daniela uses her prior experience working in national government to ensure the Centre's science and expertise is directly relevant to supporting decision makers at both global and national levels. Daniela also lectures on environmental governance (MPhil of Conservation Leadership, University of Cambridge).
Before joining in 2015, Daniela worked as a policy advisor in international environmental issues at the Ministry of Agriculture of Argentina. She was responsible for coordinating the sectoral position for intergovernmental processes such as UNFCCC and CBD. She taught environmental governance to graduates at the University of Buenos Aires, drawing on her two Master’s degrees and her Bachelor’s in International Relations.
Daniela leads part of the Centre’s work relating to the post-2020 global biodiversity framework. Building on the experience of other processes and sectors, this entails, for example, exploring options to enhance the mechanisms for transparent implementation under the Convention and the new global biodiversity framework.
In 2018, Daniela led the development of a review of existing framework on access to genetic resources and benefit-sharing derived from their utilization.
Daniela is part of IPBES technical support unit on policy support tools and methodologies, and she is responsible for the day-to-day project management.
