Grania Cooke

Associate Programme Officer | Ecosystem Assessment and Policy Support

Grania provides conservation social science expertise in her role at UNEP-WCMC. Grania supports the development of theories of change, impact monitoring and stakeholder engagement activities across several projects. Her primary focus is on the National Ecosystem Assessment Initiative (NEA), which builds capacities at the national level to undertake national ecosystem assessments and support the uptake of the assessments into decision making. Under this initiative, currently supporting 12 countries (Cameroon, Colombia, Ethiopia, Viet Nam, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cambodia, Grenada, Malawi, Thailand, Dominican Republic and Argentina), Grania is the focal point for impact. She is also co-chair of the Impact Working Group, which develops processes to ensure and monitor the impact of the Centre’s work, as part of a project for Innovation, Ideas and Impact (I3) led by the Luc Hoffman Institute (LHI). Another of Grania’s key pieces of work is serving on the Ethics Committee and supporting the ethics review processes for all project research. Grania also works on behaviour change for restoration projects within the Conserved Land and Seascapes Programme at UNEP-WCMC.
