Jerry Harrison

Principal Technical Specialist, Conventions and Policy Support | Ecosystem Assessment and Policy Support

Jerry provides both input and guidance to UNEP-WCMC’s extensive work in support of intergovernmental agreements and processes relating to biodiversity. Most of his day-to-day work concerns the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), and work to identify and promote cooperation and synergies in implementing international agreements and processes.

Previous experience & expertise

Jerry has been working at what is now UNEP-WCMC for more than 30 years in a range of different capacities, including establishment of both the World Database on Protected Areas and the Biodiversity Indicators Partnership. Prior to joining the Centre he spent five years carrying out research on the distribution of insects in upland streams on the edge of the Peak District National Park in England, and before that was working for the British Trust for Ornithology.
