Megan Critchley

Associate Programme Officer, Ecosystem Services | Climate Change and Biodiversity

As an Associate Programme Officer in the Science and Climate Change and Biodiversity Programmes, Megan works across a range of projects providing technical support through collection and collation of data, modelling and mapping. In particular, she contributes to the Centre’s work on the conservation and mapping of ecosystem services.

Previous experience & expertise

Prior to joining UNEP-WCMC, Megan graduated with an M.Sc. in Quantitative Methods in Biodiversity, Conservation and Epidemiology from the University of Glasgow. Focussing on spatial ecology and modelling techniques, her dissertation looked at the link between cacao plantation structure and biodiversity through the diet of insectivorous bats, and how this influenced their feeding behaviour.

She has a B.Sc. in Biology from the University of St Andrews, where she focussed on ecology and conservation. During her time there she undertook fieldwork from tracking sperm whales to assessing the diet preferences of red squirrels in relation to their habitat.

Megan has also worked in data analysis and sustainability within the private sector.
