Our dedicated team combines scientific excellence, outstanding technical ability and a passion for nature
Steven is heavily involved with the development of the Centre’s approach to natural capital accounting and formulating proposals to best integrate this approach into national decision-making. He also provides economic input into projects undertaken within the ecosystem assessment programme and elsewhere across the Centre.
Steven recently completed his doctoral thesis, which comprised non-market valuation of river ecosystem services from improvements in river connectivity. This research was supported by optimization modelling in order to generate the most cost-effective solutions to habitat fragmentation problems. Previous research has also included valuing public access to forests. Prior to this Steven worked for nearly 10 years as a senior and principal consultant in the construction and transport industries, providing advice on contaminated land assessment and pollution abatement.
