The theme of the upcoming 13th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity to be held in Mexico in December is mainstreaming the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity for well-being.

UN Environment World Conservation Monitoring Centre, the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED), and the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity will host a workshop entitled: Mainstreaming Biodiversity in Development and the SDGs: sharing and developing workable solutions on Sunday 11th December, in Building B, the Universal Centre, Cancun, Mexico. The workshop will explore successful national-level efforts to ensure that biodiversity is effectively integrated in such plans and processes. The effectiveness of approaches to link SDG and NBSAP implementation and efforts at the international level to support these approaches will also be included.

The need to mainstream biodiversity across all sectors of the national economy, society and policy-making framework is essential to national development and to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This workshop will be an important opportunity to share ideas and experiences. Those prepared to offer short presentations are requested to contact any of the following by 21 November:
