At UNEP-WCMC we’re building web and mobile applications to help save the planet.
We’re a team of passionate developers, UX/UI designers and product managers putting our skills towards a mission that is tackling one of the biggest problems of our time… the massive loss of biodiversity and habitat destruction that’s pushing the planet to the brink of the 6th mass extinction.
You don’t need a background in biodiversity to contribute, but you will need some commercial experience in software development and demonstrable experience of Ruby / Rails along with a passion for collaborative teams and continued learning.
The best way to show us what you can do is by sharing your Github / bitbucket account and telling us about the creative and challenging projects you’ve worked on.
Oh, and we do a lot of stuff with maps, so anything you’ve done with Leaflet.js / mapbox / postGIS is a bonus.
If you are looking for a rewarding and challenging post where you can impress us with your fearless technical smarts and teamwork, we want to hear from you. Please complete a WCMC application form and submit it with a CV and short covering letter using the link below by 20th April 2018.
We recommend you register your interest quickly, as a decision may be taken to appoint somebody ahead of the closing date.
Please note that this is not a UN post and we can only accept applications from those eligible to work in the UK.
The UN Environment World Conservation Monitoring Centre strives for a sustainable world for biodiversity and people. The Centre works towards this vision by providing strategic leadership, technical expertise, and project support to increase capacity and inspire decision makers to manage biodiversity and ecosystem services for people and the planet. The Centre has close relationships with the UN system and other partners in the public and private sector, which combines with the Centre’s extensive understanding of science and policy to produce knowledge on biodiversity and ecosystem services that makes a world of difference.
